The Schengen Area is an area encompassing European countries that have officially abolished border control at their mutual borders. It means that with a French visa, or the visa-free allowance, you can travel freely between those countries. Here is an exhaustive list of those countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Ireland is not part of the Schengen Area.
